Hello, one and all,
This blog is your resource for all things relevant to English I this year. If you need a look at assignments, the syllabus is here. If you have something to say about a discussion in class, this is the place to continue it. If you need a link to an online resource I mentioned (or someone mentioned) in class, you can find it here. Other essential documents about writing, researching, and so on will show up here as well. Make sure you can access this site easily and that you come here often!
In this story, the creature is a horrid, ugly looking wretch who wants to be accepted. Sadly, he is rejected by his master, the family he looked after, and by humanity as a whole. I think that Victor shouldn't have been angry or surprised when William died. Victor should have taken responsibility for his own creation, and confessed to the court. I see Victor as a coward and the antagonist in the story because I cannot pity him. The so-called "monster" on the other hand is the one I show sympathy towards. He would have never killed William, or set up Justine's death if Victor had cared for him when he was created. Therefore Victor should be the one that humans look down upon, the monster isn't truly a monster; he's just someone hoping for acceptance.
